Dear Fernanda and the Monterey Bay Aquarium Marketing Team,
The Senior Content Creator (Advocacy Pod) role is an excellent fit for my background in environmental storytelling, multi-platform content production, non-profit marketing, and audience engagement. Translating marine science and conservation work into compelling narratives that inspire action would be a dream career opportunity.
I’m a long-time surfer with a deep respect for the ocean and the ecosystems it sustains, and I bring both personal passion and professional experience to that perspective. I also have hands-on experience producing photo and video content in challenging environments, including shooting with underwater housings, which has strengthened both my technical and visual storytelling skills.
For the past four years, I worked as the Social Media Coordinator and Digital Content Creator for Bok Tower Gardens, a historic environmental organization in Florida. In that role, I produced content across digital, print, and web channels—including social media, email, video, livestreams, and editorial—while maintaining a cohesive visual and narrative voice across platforms.
My work involved translating organizational priorities into audience-facing storytelling for members, donors, visitors, and board leadership. Through a consistent visual strategy and data-informed content approach, I helped more than double organic reach year over year and increased Facebook followers by over 25,000. I also built and maintained a substantial image library that continues to support the organization’s communications work.
In addition to content creation, I managed publishing workflows across platforms, collaborated closely with designers and leadership on campaign execution, and regularly used analytics to refine content strategy and improve performance. This combination of creative production and operational execution aligns closely with the Senior Content Creator role’s emphasis on both storytelling and technical platform management.
My family and I recently relocated back to the West Coast, and becoming members of the Monterey Bay Aquarium has been a highlight for all of us. My 7-year-old is especially fascinated by sharks, and our visits have reinforced how powerful the Aquarium is in making sure the health of the ocean is a priority for future generations.
I’ve included writing samples, a video sample, and photography examples below, and I’d be happy to provide additional materials if you’d like. My resume is also below for your review.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Keith Novosel
